Mail filter
The mail filtering service scans incoming mail for spam, phishing, malware and scam messages. Incoming mail passes through the filter gateways before it reaches the mail servers.
Users with ETH accounts may choose to reject spam or mark it with the addition of a tag to the message subject line. ETH account users are also provided with a personal allowlist and blocklist. Spam sent to domains without ETH accounts will simply be tagged.
Confirmed malware and phishing messages will be rejected without regard to user preferences. Suspected malware and phishing messages will be diverted to an inspection queue where they will be examined and then delivered or deleted.
ETH account users are provided with a tag-only option for spam. The tag-only option is intended for users who want us to accept spam messages and simply "tag" them by adding "!SPAM" to the message Subject line. The tag-only option is recommended for public addresses such as .
ETH account users are also provided with a personal allowlist and blocklist. Users may block-list or allow-list individual sender addresses or entire domains. Personal allowlists can exempt mail from certain senders from spam checks, but not from malware or phishing checks.
Users should not rely on filtering at the gateway or mail server to protect them from malware and phishing messages. Anti-virus software is also required on client devices such as desktops, laptops and smartphones.
